HerStory – Devoreaux Walton, revelant
For our June 2024 edition, the Holon Women’s Initiative Leadership Podcast Series is thrilled to welcome entrepreneur, author, and creator, Devoreaux Walton. Devoreaux is the founder of the management consulting firm, revelant (www.berevelant.com).
Devoreaux began her entrepreneur’s journey in 2015. She was busy with a full-time role in marketing but felt the bug to create and start her own company. She began with the idea of sharing lifestyle, inspirational, styling, and social etiquette content with women. In founding The Modern Lady, Devoreaux harnessed the power of social media with a blog and YouTube channel, creating a global network of connected women.
She didn’t stop there. She felt the urge to lean into the diversity, equity, and inclusion space. She started volunteering on different initiatives and working with nonprofits. Fueled by current events, she felt energized to do more and in 2021 launched her first online course – Diversity, Inclusion & Belonging: A Manager’s Guide where she provides instruction on how to embed diversity, inclusion and belonging into every stage of the employee lifecycle. Two critical components of her course are understanding the difference between diversity, inclusion, and belonging and using data to make the business case for DEI principles.
An idea was formed – what if she could expand her passion and help other organizations navigate their marketing, strategy, and positioning to incorporate inclusion principles? And revelant (www.berevelant.com) was born. Revelant helps organizations increase revenue and brand reach with inclusion at the center of its work – not just in marketing but in product experience, space planning, customer experience, and workplace culture. The premise behind Devoreaux’s business is simple: inclusivity – whether it be in policies, partnerships, products, publicity or other areas – is a powerful tool to increase a company’s ROI. She helps organizations solve two problems 1) connecting with more consumers; and 2) attracting and retaining top talent using the values of integrity, empathy, intention, authenticity, and positivity as the backbone.
