Jim Boland Partner
Jim Boland is a founder and partner at Holon Law Partners. He has extensive experience providing strategic advice to clients in the highly regulated cannabis industry. His expertise includes corporate, regulatory, compliance, and licensing issues.
Mr. Boland is at the forefront of the emerging cannabis industry, having started at a Chicago start-up in 2018, which grew into the largest vertically integrated cannabis company in the United States during his tenure. While there, Mr. Boland was responsible for regulatory compliance, licensing, and new market integration in more than half a dozen states.
In addition to his experience as in-house counsel, Mr. Boland worked as an Associate Attorney in one of the country’s largest private cannabis practices as a member of the firm’s corporate transactions group.

Mr. Boland also helped curate and launch the first social equity incubator in the State of Illinois, assisting more than eighty applicants in completing license applications for the state’s initial round of retail and craft grow licenses.
Mr. Boland holds a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Denver and a JD from the University of DePaul College of Law. In his free time, Mr. Boland shares his knowledge with future generations, serving as an adjunct professor of Cannabis Law at South Suburban College.
